Rocket Mortgage HELOC Rates 2026: What Rocket Charges and What to Get Instead

No HELOC, no posted rates and a $45,000 minimum. What Rocket charges, and how Figure and Upstart Home Lending compare.

Rocket Mortgage HELOC rates don’t exist, because Rocket Mortgage doesn’t offer a HELOC. What it sells is a fixed-rate home equity loan: one lump sum of $45,000 to $500,000, for borrowers with a credit score of at least 680. And Rocket doesn’t post the rates on that loan either, so there’s nothing to compare until you’re already in a quote.

If a line of credit is what you were after, price one where you can see a number first. Figure lets you check your rate with a soft credit pull and could fund you in as few as five days. A HELOC from Upstart Home Lending is the second quote worth getting, especially if your score is under 680, since Upstart Home Lending HELOCs are available for credit scores starting at 600.

Our HELOC pick over Rocket
  • APRs from 7.35% to 14.85% as of October 2026
  • Lines from $15,000 to $750,000 ($35,000 minimum in Texas)
  • Check your rate with a soft credit pull. The full application is a hard pull
  • Funding in as few as 5 days
  • You draw the full amount at closing, with an origination fee of up to 4.99%
  • Not available in Hawaii or New York

Our take: Rocket fits one kind of borrower. You need $45,000 or more, your credit score is 680 or higher, and you want one fixed rate on one lump sum. If you need less than that, want a line of credit or have a score in the 600s, get HELOC quotes from Figure and Upstart Home Lending before you call Rocket.

Here’s what each one actually puts in front of you. Rocket’s column is the thin one, and that’s the point: it doesn’t publish the number you’d most want to compare.

Rocket figures are Rocket’s product details as reported by NerdWallet and Bankrate. Figure figures are from figure.com. Upstart Home Lending APR and fee: see note 1 at the bottom of this page. Terms at every lender change, so the quote you get is what counts.

Does Rocket Mortgage offer a HELOC?

No. Rocket’s own earnings materials describe one home equity product, and it’s a home equity loan.

You’ll run into a few sites that say Rocket has a HELOC. None of them point to anything from Rocket that backs it up, so don’t plan around one.

If the name you remember is Quicken Loans, that’s the same company. Quicken Loans changed its name to Rocket Mortgage in 2021, so there’s no separate Quicken Loans product to go looking for.

What the Rocket home equity loan looks like

It’s a fixed rate on a lump sum.

You get the whole amount at closing and repay it on a set schedule, so the payment stays the same from the first month to the last.

The loan runs from $45,000 to $500,000, with a $10,000 minimum in Michigan. You need a credit score of at least 680, and how much you can borrow goes up as your score does. Reviewers report Rocket may lend up to about 90% of your home’s value, counting what you still owe on your mortgage.

Terms vary, and reviewers report 10 to 20 years. Want to see what a fixed payment like that looks like? Plug a few amounts into our home equity loan calculator.

Rocket Mortgage home equity loan rates: why you can’t look them up

Rocket doesn’t post sample rates for its home equity loan.

NerdWallet called this out in its review, and it is the single biggest headache in shopping Rocket against anyone else.

Everyone else on this page gives you a range up front. Figure shows APRs of 7.35% to 14.85% as of October 2026. Upstart Home Lending shows 6.52% to 18.00% APR1. With Rocket, you go in without a number and find out at the quote.

So what sets your Rocket rate? Nobody outside Rocket can tell you exactly, since it doesn’t publish its pricing. Your credit score obviously matters, though, because Rocket already ties how much you can borrow to it.

Here’s the practical move. If you want a Rocket quote, get one, but get a HELOC quote alongside it so you’ve got something to hold it up against. Figure‘s rate check is a soft pull, so it won’t touch your credit score.

Next stepSee your rate at Figure. It’s a soft credit pull.

What a Rocket home equity loan costs beyond the rate

The rate is only half the bill. You pay the closing costs on a Rocket home equity loan, and Bankrate puts typical home equity loan closing costs at 3% to 6% of the loan.

On a loan Rocket’s size, that adds up fast:

Loan amountClosing costs at 3%Closing costs at 6%
$45,000 (Rocket’s minimum)$1,350$2,700
$100,000$3,000$6,000
$250,000$7,500$15,000
$500,000 (Rocket’s maximum)$15,000$30,000

The 3% to 6% range is Bankrate’s estimate for home equity loans in general, not a Rocket quote. An appraisal may be required on top of it.

Compare that with Figure’s origination fee of up to 4.99%, which tops out at $2,245.50 on $45,000.

Neither one is cheap.

Which costs less comes down to the quotes you actually get. So ask Rocket for its closing cost figure before you sign, and add it to the rate when you compare. A lower rate with $2,700 in closing costs can lose to a slightly higher rate with less due upfront.

Worked example: a $20,000 roof

Say your roof needs replacing and the quote comes in at $20,000.

Can Rocket cover it? Technically, but you would be overpaying for the privilege.

Rocket’s minimum is $45,000. To use it, you’d borrow $25,000 more than the roof costs and pay interest on that extra $25,000 for as long as you carry it. Every 1 percentage point of rate on $25,000 is about $250 a year. At 8%, a number used here only for the math and not a Rocket quote, that’s roughly $2,000 a year in interest on money you never needed.

The closing costs scale up too. At 3% to 6%, you’d pay $1,350 to $2,700 on $45,000, against $600 to $1,200 if the same percentages applied to $20,000.

OptionWhat you borrowExtra beyond the $20,000 roofUpfront cost
Rocket home equity loan$45,000 (the minimum)$25,000$1,350 to $2,700 in closing costs, at a typical 3% to 6%
Figure HELOC$20,000$0Up to $998 at the 4.99% maximum origination fee
HELOC from Upstart Home LendingA $26,000 line, with at least $20,800 drawn at closingAt least $800Up to $1,297.40 at 4.99% of a $26,000 limit1

Upfront costs are the top of each published range, not quotes. Figure’s minimum line is $35,000 in Texas, so a $20,000 Figure line doesn’t work there.

A HELOC fits this job better. Figure‘s lines start at $15,000 in most states, so a $20,000 line works, and the fee can’t go past $998. Upstart Home Lending’s smallest line is $26,000 and you draw at least 80% of it at closing, which is $20,800. That’s close enough to a $20,000 roof to be worth a quote.

Want the monthly number? Our HELOC payment calculator shows the payment on a $20,000 draw at whatever rate you’re quoted.

HELOC vs. home equity loan: which one do you actually want?

A home equity loan, like Rocket’s, gives you one lump sum at a fixed rate, and you start repaying all of it right away. A HELOC is a line of credit. At a typical bank, you borrow what you need during a draw period and pay interest only on what you’ve used.

The online HELOCs on this page don’t work like the bank kind, though.

Figure has you draw the full line at closing, and Upstart Home Lending has you draw at least 80%. In practice, both behave a lot like a lump sum.

So why not just take Rocket’s loan? Smaller minimums, for one. Figure lets you see a rate with a soft pull before you commit, and Upstart Home Lending HELOCs are available for credit scores starting at 600, well under Rocket’s 680.

If what you really want is to borrow a little at a time, ask your own bank or credit union about a traditional line. And if any monthly payment is the problem, read our guide to the HELOC alternatives with no monthly payment.

The HELOCs to price instead of Rocket

Figure

Figure is the fast one. You can check your rate with a soft credit pull, the full application is a hard pull, and funding could come in as few as five days.

Lines run from $15,000 to $750,000 ($35,000 minimum in Texas), and APRs run from 7.35% to 14.85% as of October 2026. Figure’s minimum credit score varies by state.

The catches? You draw the full amount at closing, and the origination fee goes up to 4.99%.

It is not available in Hawaii or New York. Our Figure HELOC review covers the rest.

HELOC from Upstart Home Lending

Upstart Home Lending is the second quote, and the one to get if your credit score is in the 600s. Its HELOCs are available for credit scores starting at 600, which could open a door Rocket’s 680 floor closes.

Lines run $26,000 to $250,000, with 10 and 15 year terms and APRs of 6.52% to 18.00%1. The lowest APR is available only to borrowers who meet specific eligibility conditions.

One rule to know before you apply: you have to draw at least 80% of the line at closing, so size it to what you’ll actually use. The application is easy and online. Our Upstart Home Lending review walks through the costs and the draw rule.

Who should pick which

Go with Rocket if you need $45,000 or more, your score is 680 or higher, and you want one fixed rate on one lump sum. Get its quote, then hold it up against a HELOC quote before you sign anything.

Go with Figure if speed matters, or if you need less than $45,000 and want to see a rate with a soft pull first.

Look at Upstart Home Lending if your score falls between 600 and 679, where Rocket’s floor rules you out, and you need $26,000 to $250,000. Just be ready to draw at least 80% of the line at closing.

Bottom line: Rocket works for a big, fixed-rate lump sum and a 680-plus score. For almost anything smaller, a HELOC quote from Figure or Upstart Home Lending is the better place to start.

Figure could make sense if you need $15,000 or more soon, want to check your rate with a soft pull, and are fine drawing the full amount at closing.

Rocket home equity questions, answered

Does Rocket Mortgage offer a HELOC?

No. Rocket Mortgage offers a fixed-rate home equity loan, not a home equity line of credit. A few sites say otherwise, but none of them cite anything from Rocket. If you want a HELOC, Figure lets you check your rate with a soft credit pull.

Did Quicken Loans have a HELOC?

680. How much you can borrow goes up as your score does. If your score is lower, Upstart Home Lending HELOCs are available for credit scores starting at 600.

What is the minimum Rocket home equity loan?

$45,000, except in Michigan, where it’s $10,000. The maximum is $500,000. If you need less than $45,000, a HELOC from Figure starts at $15,000 in most states.

Does Rocket publish home equity rates?
