This policy explains what Banks Done Right collects when you visit banksdoneright.com, how we use it, who receives it, and the choices you have. The site is published by MeiggsMedia LLC in McLean, Virginia. Effective October 13, 2026.
What you give us
- You can read everything on this site without giving us your name or email address.
- Contact form. If you use the contact page, we receive your name, email address, subject and message by email. The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that you’re a person and may collect information from your browser and device. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write.
- Search. Words you type in the site search are part of the page address, so they show up in our server logs.
What’s collected automatically
Like most sites, we and the providers we use record your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the links you click, the page that sent you here, and the date and time. That comes from server logs, site analytics, and a click log that counts clicks on links to other companies. The click log stores your IP address, browser, operating system, device type, country, the page you came from, the link and the time.
We also use your approximate location, estimated from your IP address, to show links that fit where you are.
Cookies and browser storage
Cookies are small files saved in your browser. These are the ones set on this site:
- Google Analytics cookies (the names start with _ga) tell visits apart.
- A cookie called _mm_s3 (it lasts 30 minutes) and matching browser storage (up to 30 days) remember which page or source sent you here, so a later link click can be matched to it.
- A cookie called prli_visitor (it lasts one year) is set by our link tool when you click a tracked link. It’s used to count clicks.
- Google reCAPTCHA sets its own cookies on the contact page.
Simply loading a page doesn’t set a cookie from our server. The cookies above come from scripts or from clicking a link. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though the contact form may stop working if you block reCAPTCHA.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used. It sets cookies and receives your IP address, device and browser details, and the pages you view. Google explains how it uses information from sites and apps that use its services on its own page about that. To opt out, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Other tools and providers
We also rely on companies in these categories: a second site statistics service, link management and click tracking, spam and bot protection, web hosting, caching and content delivery, security, backups and site management, and a web font provider. Some of them may collect information about your activity on this site and, in some cases, over time and across other websites.
Links to other sites
Our pages link to banks, lenders and other companies. When you click one, our link tool may add a code to the address saying which page you were on. The other company then collects information under its own privacy policy. We don’t control other sites, so read their policies before you share anything.
How we use information
- To answer messages you send us.
- To run, protect and improve the site, and to block spam and bots.
- To learn which pages and links are useful.
- To show links that fit where you are.
- To follow the law.
Who receives it
Your information goes to the providers described above, which host, secure, deliver, back up, measure and manage the site. We don’t sell or rent the name and email address you send us through the contact form. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Do Not Track
This site does not respond to Do Not Track signals. If your browser sends one, we still collect what’s described above.
Your choices
To correct or delete something you sent us, such as a contact form message, use the contact page or email us and tell us what you’d like removed. Log records are tied to an IP address and not to a name, so include the approximate date and we’ll do what we reasonably can. Browser settings and the Google opt-out above cover cookies and analytics.
Children
Banks Done Right is for adults and isn’t directed at children under 18. We don’t knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security and where data is processed
No method of sending or storing information online is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. We’re based in the U.S. and information is processed here. If you visit from another country, you’re sending information to the U.S.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
