Bottom line: EverBank is worth a look if you want a high savings rate and don’t need a bank that does everything. Its Performance Savings pays 4.20% APY for new accounts as of 10/09/2026, with $0 to open and no monthly fee.

It’s a weaker pick if you want a sign-up bonus, early direct deposit or a long list of account perks. None of those showed up on the pages we read.

The rate is for new accounts only, and it’s variable. That is the catch to keep in mind.

What EverBank is

EverBank, N.A. is a national bank, and its pages carry the Member FDIC mark. The savings page says deposits are FDIC insured up to the standard $250,000 per depositor, for each account ownership category.

Most of what you’ll use is online. EverBank also runs financial centers in Florida, California and New York, which helps if you live near one.

The product list covers Performance Savings, EverBank Checking, Performance Checking, Performance CDs and a Performance Money Market. We’ll go through each.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • 4.20% APY on Performance Savings, on every balance, with no tiers.
  • $0 to open and a $0 monthly maintenance fee on savings.
  • CD rates run from 3.40% to 4.35% APY across 3 to 60 month terms.
  • EverBank Checking has no monthly account fee and $25 to open.
  • Other banks’ ATM fees are refunded.
  • The iPhone app is rated 4.8 out of 5 on the App Store.

Cons

  • The 4.20% is for new accounts only and can change without notice.
  • No sign-up bonus found.
  • Performance Checking pays only 0.25% APY and needs $100 to open.
  • Early direct deposit isn’t mentioned on the pages we read.
  • The Performance Money Market shows no APY online and is offered through financial centers.
  • Phone support isn’t 24/7.

Performance Savings

This is the main event. Performance Savings pays 4.20% APY on all balances for new accounts, as of 10/09/2026. You can open it with $0, and there’s no monthly fee no matter the balance.

What does that look like? On $10,000 for a year, 4.20% is about $420 in interest if the rate never moved. It will move, because it’s variable and EverBank can change it without notice.

The wording “for new accounts only and may not be applicable for existing accounts” deserves a second look. A rate that applies to new accounts can drop for older ones. Check the rates page every few months and move your money if the rate slips.

Withdrawal limits aren’t stated on the savings page. Read the terms before you plan to move money in and out often.

Performance CDs

EverBank’s CD ladder is wide. As of 10/09/2026, the personal Performance CD APYs were:

TermAPY
3, 6 and 7 months3.60%
9 months3.40%
12 months3.50%
13 months4.10%
18 months3.40%
24 months4.35%
25 months3.65%
30, 36, 48 and 60 months3.40%

The 24-month CD at 4.35% is the top rate on the list. The 13-month at 4.10% is the best short-ish option.

The 7-month renews into a 6-month CD at maturity, the 13-month into a 12-month, and the 25-month into a 24-month. Those renewals may land at a lower rate, so mark the maturity date. The minimum to open isn’t stated on the rates page.

Checking and ATMs

EverBank Checking costs $25 to open and has no monthly account fee. Performance Checking costs $100 to open, pays 0.25% APY as of 10/09/2026, and has a $0 monthly fee.

For ATMs, EverBank doesn’t charge its own fees. If another bank charges you, EverBank refunds those fees automatically in any month your average daily balance is at least $5,000. Below $5,000 the refund is capped at $15 a month. The home page puts the no-fee ATM network at over 80,000.

The Performance Checking summary of terms (a December 2023 edition) lists no overdraft or insufficient funds fees, and says transactions that exceed your balance are generally declined. It also lists a $25 stop payment fee and a $25 domestic wire out.

That document is a few years old, so check the current terms before you count on it.

What it costs

Savings costs nothing to open or hold. Checking ranges from $25 to $100 to open, with no monthly fee on either account.

The costs show up elsewhere. A $25 stop payment, $25 for a domestic wire out, and $35 for an international wire out in U.S. dollars are in the Performance Checking terms. Mobile check deposit is $0.

None of that matters unless you use those services. If all you want is a savings account, you’ll pay nothing.

Who should open it

Open EverBank if you want the highest savings rate you can get without minimums, you’re comfortable checking your rate now and then, and you don’t need perks.

It also suits you if you want to build a CD ladder from one bank. Terms from 3 months to 60 months give you plenty of rungs.

Skip it if you want a bonus for switching, early direct deposit, or a bank with a rewards ecosystem. Skip it too if you’ll want to call at 11 p.m.: phone hours run 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.

How to open
